As the program director/instructor in our Surgical Technology program, I take immense pride in offering students an education that goes beyond textbooks and lectures. Our program is designed to be hands-on, giving students the opportunity to engage directly with the instruments and techniques they'll use in the operating room. This practical approach ensures they are well-prepared for real surgical environments.
A distinctive aspect of our program is our commitment to professional development and outreach. We attend AST conferences nationwide, allowing students to connect with industry professionals, learn about the latest advancements in surgical technology, and gain insights that simply can't be taught in a classroom. These experiences are invaluable in helping students extend their influence and build professional networks early in their careers.
Moreover, our outreach programs to local high schools aim to inspire and educate young students about the possibilities within the surgical field. By sharing their passion and knowledge, our students not only solidify their own understanding but also play a crucial role in encouraging the next generation to consider careers in healthcare.
Through these initiatives, our students graduate not only as skilled surgical technologists but also as well-rounded professionals ready to make meaningful contributions to the healthcare community.
